Why God Sent Jesus to Give Us Peace

“Our Heavenly Father Sent Jesus to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness before him all our days…to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.” Luke 1:74-79

Thank You for Sending Jesus

Heavenly Father, I thank you for sending Jesus to rescue me from the hand of my enemies. I must confess my greatest enemies are my own fleshly desires. These thoughts, feelings and actions that rise in me every day in reaction to people and circumstances that get under my skin.

You warn me about these fleshly desires in Galatians 5:19-23. You warn me that those who intentionally practice these things will not inherit the kingdom of God. You tell me in James chapter 1 that these entice me and draw me away and lead to death. I know this is true…I’ve experienced death of vision, death of relationships and death of victory when I’ve given into these fleshly desires.

I have GREAT COMFORT

And am reminded now, at CHRISTmas…that Jesus came to rescue me! It’s one of the reasons you sent Him.

I have Great Hope…

Luke 1:74-49 gives me great hope…it tells me

You sent Jesus to enable me and empower me to overcome these fleshly desires that are so easy to give in to.

You sent Jesus to enable me to serve you without fear.
You sent Jesus to create an atmosphere of mercy and grace in your presence instead of fear of punishment, death and failure.
You sent Jesus to forgive my propensity for sin.
You sent Jesus to shine light into the dark corners of my soul.
You sent Jesus light to remove the dark shadows that lurk and threaten to destroy my vision, my relationships and my peace.

And… You sent Jesus to guide my feet into the path of peace.

Thank you for providing a way for me – and all of us who choose Jesus – to have Peace with You, Peace with Ourselves and Peace with Others.

Thank you Father for sending Jesus as the new prince of this world…

Jesus – The Prince of Peace.

Today I receive the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus sent and call forth the blossoms of His fruit in my life. The fruits revealed in Galatians 5:22-23. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
