What are you craving when you go for the typical broccoli salad, certainly not broccoli. You are craving fat; which you get in the bacon, mayo and cheese.

This recipe is brimming with good fat that will taste great, satisfy your fat cravings and not pack on the pounds….sunflower seeds and avocado oil. And to give your broccoli salad a zing, how about some organic raisins and mandarin oranges?

You will be surprised when even your non-healthy eaters will like this salad…just don’t tell them it’s healthy!

Broccoli is a health super star! A great anti-cancer food, studies have shown that 3 cups of broccoli a day provides excellent cancer protection. I know thats a lot of broccoli but this delicious salad will make it easier. The high amounts of vitamin K, C and A help your body to utilize vitamin D. Broccoli is also beneficial in the detoxification process.

Sunflower seeds are also high in vitamin E, the fat soluble antioxidant your body loves. They help to lower cholesterol with plant based phytosterols and they are high in the essential mineral magnesium which facilitates over 300 actions in your body. Broccoli Salad

This crunchy sweet and sour salad will keep for 3 days in your refrigerator and is an excellent source of many healthy nutrients. Its always popular at potlucks and picnics too! Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 cups raw broccoli
  • 1/3 cup raw sunflower seeds
  • 2-3 fresh mandarin oranges peeled and sectioned
  • 1/4 cup organic raisins or fresh grapes
  • 1 fresh lemon 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 Tablespoons Avocado Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons raw local honey

Instructions

  • Cut broccoli into bite sized pieces
  • Add all ingredients
  • Stir well
  • Best when allowed to marinate at least an hour
  • Broccoli will reach a lightly steamed texture as it marinates
